Hi everyone!
Well, it's been quite a long time since I wrote anything in the commentary page, so I'm doing that now.
This is regarding disasters. August of 2005.....a date which will live in infamy, to borrow the quote from President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It is a sad time we live in, and disaster has hit America once again. This time, instead of terrorists flying planes into the world trade center in New York, mother nature is responsible for this one. Hurricane Katrina devastated Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama with winds over 160 MPH....one of the worst category 5 hurricanes to hit the United States in over 40 years. Hurricane Camille devastated the states in 1963 and Hurrican Andrew, another category 5, hit Florida in the mid 1990's. No one could estimate the kind of damage Hurricane Katrina would do.
Why does this happen? God knows, as He is in TOTAL control of everything. There is a theory floating around, I heard from a co-worker, that there was a minister on the radio, who claims that this is God's way of punishing us for the actions we are taking in Iraq. Whether it be true or not, God knows the answer and we won't know until He tells us. Personally, I think this is a WAKE UP CALL to all of us Christians, and this is God's way of saying, "Hey.....I'm still here and I'm the one in control." The book of Revelation has the 3 Angels Message, and the very first message that is given, "Fear God and give him glory, for the hour of his judgement has come." (Rev. 14:7 RSV) We need to get back in focus, SPIRITUALLY, and get in better contact with God, because there will be a time when God releases the 4 winds, and the devil will be loosened from his pit and his chains, and try to get God's chosen people. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be left behind to suffer God's wrath.
On the main page of this website, I added 4 links. One is for the rememberance of the September 11th attacks in 2001, as well as to help fight AIDS, fighting Breast Cancer and for Hurricane Katrina relief. The link to the hurricane relief will take you to where you can make a donation if you care to. If you haven't already, call your nearest American Red Cross chapter to see what you can do monitarily, or if you wish to donate canned goods or even blood. Every bit helps, and whatever you can do to help is always appreciated.
Until my next commentary....
Chuck
